Listen to the Bee Gees sing ‘How Can You Mend a Broken Heart?’ from Sharp Objects

The 1971 Bee Gees track ‘How Can You Mend a Broken Heart?‘ showed up on Sharp Objects last night — Season 1, Episode 7, “Falling“.

It is the song that Jackie turns off as Camille walks into the house.

And I don’t care what anyone says about the ‘uncoolness’ of songs like ‘How Can You Mend a Broken Heart?‘. Because that song was released when I was a little kid, and I loved it.

And so, a few decades later, not only does it have memories attached to it I would like to keep, it is actually a really sweet song with a lovely melody and sentiment.

Interestingly too, I remember the song being popular in the U.K., where I grew up. But, apparently, it did not hit the number 1 spot on the U.K. singles chart.

In fact, it did not chart in the U.K. at all.

Instead, the Bee Gees’ ‘How Can You Mend a Broken Heart?’ hit the number 1 spot in the U.S. on three charts — Billboard Hot 100, Cash Box and Record World, and even gained the Bee Gees a Grammy nomination.

It also charted in nine other countries.

Watch the Bee Gees’ perform ‘How Can You Mend a Broken Heart?‘ live in the video below because, man, they really did have gorgeous voices, and listen to the official release of the track in the Spotify widget below that.
