Listen to Belinda Carlisle’s ‘Heaven Is A Place On Earth’ from Swamp Thing, Season 1, Episode 5

Swamp Thing character from DC Universe TV series

Belinda Carlisle’s ‘Heaven Is A Place On Earth‘ was featured on the DC Universe show Swamp Thing this week — Season 1, Episode 5, “Drive All Night”.

The track was heard as Abby remembers Shawna singing along to the same song, and then gets a flashback of Shawna’s death.

Heaven Is A Place On Earth‘ is the title track of Belinda Carlisle’s second solo studio album, released two years after Carlisle’s original band The Go-Gos broke up.

The song went on to become the song Carlisle is always associated with, and the album itself was an enormous success for her.

It was certified Platinum four times in the United Kingdom, two times Platinum in Australia and Canada, and Platinum in the U.S., and New Zealand.

Belinda Carlisle’s ‘Heaven Is A Place On Earth‘ single charted high in 12 countries, including the U.S., the UK and Germany, and was eventually nominated for a Grammy Award. An all-around huge deal for Carlisle.

As for DC Universe’s Swamp Thing, sadly, the series has already been canceled, which was an extremely odd decision for the network to make considering only one episode had aired at the time.

According to IGN, the show was axed “due to differing creative styles between multiple people involved”, although it also seems to be because the folks at DC Universe’ parent company Warner Bros. don’t really know what they’re doing with their subscription streaming service (and why are all these companies that are ill-equipped to handle a streaming service as well as Netflix has jumping on the band wagon? Guys, just sell your stuff to Netflix. You’ll do better).
