The song was played as Link and Amelia kiss, as Andrew apologizes to Meredith for his bad mood and then surprises her with dinner, and as Jo pretends to be asleep when Alex gets home.

Benjamin Francis Leftwich’s ‘When You Were Young‘ is a cover of The Killers’ song that was released by the American rock band in 2006.

The track hit number 14 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, the number 2 spot in the UK and number 10 in Australia, and charted in more than 10 other countries. Ending up becoming the biggest hit for The Killers to date.

When You Were Young’ is also a song that has had a slew of other covers recorded or performed by a diverse group of artists, including Coldplay’s Chris Martin, Against the Current, Echosmith, Garrison Starr and Joy Electric.

English singer songwriter Benjamin Francis Leftwich‘s cover of ‘When You Were Young‘ was released in 2017 as a stand-alone single. It didn’t chart, but it certainly peaked the interest of TV show music supervisors, culminating in his Grey’s Anatomy feature.
