Not only is it brilliant news that the crime drama series Dexter is back with a new incarnation Dexter: New Blood, that new series also kicked off on Showtime last night with some brilliant music on its soundtrack — Dexter: New Blood, Episode 1, “Cold Snap“.

Music like Blue Oyster Cult’s ‘Burnin’ for You‘, which was played during the scene where Dexter (Michael C. Hall) is pulled over.

Blue Oyster Cult’s ‘Burnin’ for You‘ is from the American hard rock band’s eighth studio album Fire of Unknown Origin.

That album came out in 1981 via Columbia Records.

Burnin’ for You‘ was the lead single from the hit album, with the track making it to #40 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, as well as to the top spot on the Billboard Mainstream Rock chart.

To this day, the song is the only #1 hit the band had on the rock charts.

Blue Oyster Cult was founded in 1967 and, while they had their main success in the late 1970s and 80s, the band is still together and performing in 2021 albeit with a slightly different line-up.

Listen to Blue Oyster Cult’s ‘Burnin’ for You‘ as heard on last night’s Dexter: New Blood.

The 10-episode welcome return of the crime drama is currently airing on Showtime.

Now let’s just hope the ending to this one is more satisfying than the last season of the series.
