As yet more superhero series are set to premiere on Disney+ (do these TV executives have no originality anymore?), this week it’s Moon Knight that ‘blesses’ us with its presence.
And, while it’s just another superhero series that follows pretty much the same pattern as previous series, I will admit the show’s first episode did feature superb music on its soundtrack.
Songs like Bob Dylan’s ‘Every Grain of Sand‘, which played during the opening scenes as Arthur Harrow (Ethan Hawke) smashes a glass with his cane, then proceeds to put the glass shards into his sandals, put his feet in the sandals and walk on the glass.
‘Every Grain of Sand‘ is from Dylan’s 21st studio album Shot of Love, which came out in 1981.
It was an album that ended the singer songwriter’s primarily Christian-themed music phase back then.
The song is full of biblical references, and has since been covered by a slew of other artists, including Emmylou Harris, Chrissie Hynde and Greek singer Nana Mouskouri.
But it is the Bob Dylan original version that continues to be thought of as one of the best songs the now iconic singer has ever released.
Listen to Bob Dylan’s ‘Every Grain of Sand‘ from Moon Knight on the singer’s Shot of Love album, and in the video.
Moon Knight stars Oscar Isaac, May Calamawy, Ethan Hawke, Karim El Hakim and F. Murray Abraham.
The first of six episodes premiered on Disney+ last night.
