Listen to Book of Love’s ‘Boy’ from Ted Lasso, S3 E6 as Colin goes to the bar

The American synth pop band Book of Love’s ‘Boy’ was played on the soundtrack of Ted Lasso this week — Ted Lasso, Season 3, Episode 6, “Sunflowers“.

It was the song playing as Colin walks into the bar and asks if they have a vanilla vodka.

It continues to play as he turns around and sees Trent, and then makes an excuse about being “in the wrong bar” and leaves.

The track stops playing as Trent goes after him saying “I already knew. I’ve known for months. I haven’t said anything to anyone”.

Book of Love’s ‘Boy’ was the indie pop band’s debut single.

It came out in 1985 and made it to #7 on the Hot Dance Club Play chart.

Keyboardist and songwriter Ted Ottaviano once said he had written the song about a very famous gay bar in New York City, although rumors have also stated for years that the lyrics are about a woman who was in love with a man who was into other men.

The cool dance track has since gone on to become a dance club staple around the world.

Listen to Book of Love’s ‘Boy’  the Extended Mix version as played on Ted Lasso from their self-titled album, and in the video.

You can hear more songs from the Ted Lasso soundtrack here on Leo Sigh and, of course, watch season 3 of the hit comedy drama on Apple TV.
