American indie folk rock singer Brandi Carlile’s ‘Looking Out‘ was that gorgeous song playing over the Tiny Beautiful Things, Episode 3 end credits this week — Tiny Beautiful Things, Season 1, Episode 3, “The Ghost Ship“.
The song was released by Carlile in 2009 as the first track on her third studio album Give Up the Ghost, which came out on the Columbia Records label.
The album itself ranked at #26 on the Billboard 200 chart, which isn’t surprising as it was Brandi Carlile’s first album to not have a bad track on it.
It also kicked off with ‘Looking Out‘ — a guitar-driven song that is so powerful in both music and lyrics, it grabs you and doesn’t let go.
Lyrics like:
I laid this suitcase on my chest
So I could feel somebody’s weight
And I laid you to rest
Just to feel the give and take
What with its catchy beat, addictive melody, Carlile’s stunning vocals and the feeling ‘Looking Out‘ gives you as her emotions soar up and down throughout the song, this is a track you cannot listen to just once.
Something I can attest to, as I have the catchy track on repeat for the better part of my morning so far.
