American pop and hip hop singer Brandy’s ‘I Wanna Be Down‘ showed up on the soundtrack of the new season of Pose last night — Pose, Season 3, Episode 1, “On The Run“, which aired on May 2nd, 2021.
The song played while Angela and Lulu are reading a magazine and arguing over cocaine.
Brandy’s ‘I Wanna Be Down‘ was the singer’s debut single, and was released way back in late 1994 as the lead single from her self-titled first album.
The mellow track was a big success for the then 15-year-old singer, charting in four countries but doing particularly well in the United States where it hit the top spot on the Hot R&B/Hip Hop Songs chart, and also placing high on three other Billboard charts.
It then went on to be certified Gold in the U.S.
An official music video accompanied the release of ‘I Wanna Be Down‘ featuring the young artist in various settings singing about how she was perfect for the guy she wanted to date.
The video ended with Brandy dancing in a forest while backed with young dancers including her brother.

The third and final season of Pose started airing on FX last night, with the plot having moved forward several years.
