American country singer songwriter Chris Stapleton’s ‘Daddy Doesn’t Pray Anymore‘ was featured on Yellowstone this week — Season 2, Episode 10, “Sins of the Father“.
The track was played as John Dutton takes his father outside to enjoy his favorite place.
Chris Stapleton’s ‘Daddy Doesn’t Pray Anymore‘ is from the Nashville, Tennessee based singer songwriter’s debut album Traveller.
Released in 2015 on the Mercury Nashville label, Traveller not only reached number 1 on the U.S. Billboard 200 chart, a dream for a new artist, the album was nominated for a Grammy Award and also won a number of other awards.
These included Album of the Year at the Academy of Country Music Awards and the Top Country Album at the Billboard Music Awards.
Stapleton’s song ‘Traveller‘ took his album success even further by both being nominated for, and winning, the Grammy for the Best Country Solo Performance.
As for ‘Daddy Doesn’t Pray Anymore‘, it is a song that, at the instigation of his wife Morgane, Stapleton says took him 10 minutes to write.
Watch him explain how that happened in a snippet from a recent Today show interview above.
