Indie dream pop band Cigarettes After Sex’s ‘Sunsetz‘ was that utterly lovely track playing on Grey’s Anatomy this week — Grey’s Anatomy, Season 18, Episode 9, “No Time To Die” — as Amelia and Kai are talking at the bar.
‘Sunsetz‘ is from the dream pop/ambient pop band’s self-titled debut album, which came out in 2017 via the indie record label Partisan Records.
The song has become one of the band’s favorite tracks among Cigarettes After Sex fans, with more than 102 million plays on Spotify and 10 million plays on YouTube so far.
One of the reasons likely being, not only is ‘Sunsetz‘ incredibly pretty, but it has such a naive, almost child-like feel to it.
Even with that more explicit third line in the first verse.
The feel that it doesn’t matter how often they part, the singer will never stop thinking about her or how she makes him feel:
And when you go away, I still see you
With sunlight on your face in my rear view
This always happens to me this way
Recurring visions of such sweet day
Listen to Cigarettes After Sex’s ‘Sunsetz‘ as heard on Grey’s Anatomy this week down below, and on the band’s debut studio album.
A gorgeous album that received acclaim from critics like PopMatters, The Guardian and Rough Trade.
Grey’s Anatomy is now in its 18th Season, with its 19th Season due out later in the year.
