Listen to Cigarettes After Sex’s ‘Nothing’s Gonna Hurt You Baby’ from Superman & Lois, S3 E1

The indie dream pop band Cigarettes After Sex’s ‘Nothing’s Gonna Hurt You Baby‘ was one of the tracks played on the first episode of the much-awaited new season of Superman & Lois last night — Superman & Lois, Season 3, Episode 1, “Closer“.

It was playing as Lois and Lana are together, and Lana suddenly realizes Lois isn’t drinking because she’s pregnant.

Cigarettes After Sex’s ‘Nothing’s Gonna Hurt You Baby‘ was released in mid-2012 on the band’s debut EP simply titled I.

More than a decade after its release, the romantic song is still one of Cigarettes After Sex’s fan favorites.

The track’s lyrics are written from the perspective of a man promising the woman he loves he will protect her.

No matter what happens now or in the future.

The song’s almost hollow sound is interesting as, for lack of a recording studio, the track was actually recorded in a stairwell at lead singer Greg Gonzalez’s alma mater in El Paso, Texas.

Listen to Cigarettes After Sex’s ‘Nothing’s Gonna Hurt You Baby‘ as heard on Superman & Lois on the band’s EP I, and in the video.

It is a lovely, mellow, romantic track that, as one person said in YouTube video comments, almost feels like a hug.

Watch the third season of Superman & Lois via The CW.
