American soft rock, pop singer songwriter Clairo’s ‘Alewife‘ was featured on last night’s episode of the new Kate Winslet series Mare of Easttown on HBOMare of Easttown, Season 1, Episode 3, “Enter Number Two” — which aired on May 2nd, 2021.

The song was played as Siobahn records herself talking about her brother right before he died.

Alewife‘ is from Clairo’s debut studio album Immunity, which was released in 2019 via the FADER record label.

The album was produced by former Vampire Weekend member Rostam Batmanglij.

The 11-track album was placed on several critics’ ‘Best Albums of 2019‘ lists, and charted in five countries.

Its highest placing was in the United States where Immunity hit #51 on the Billboard 200 chart.

Along with ‘Alewife’‘s use on Mare of Easttown, Clairo’s music has also been featured on TV series like Good Trouble, Defending Jacob, The Bold Type, The Baker and the Beauty, Ballers and skam Belgium.

Clairo herself is Claire Elizabeth Cottrill, the daughter of marketing executive Geoff Cottrill.

Early in her career, she faced criticism that pointed out it could have been easier for her to sign with a record label due to her father’s connections.

Clairo has always denied it, saying the mean-spirited criticism was nothing but ‘sexism’.

Listen to Clairo’s ‘Alewife’ as heard on yesterday’s Mare of Easttown on her debut album and in the video below. The song itself is beautiful and her voice is haunting.
