Country music singer songwriter Cody Johnson’s ‘Dear Rodeo‘ was played on this week’s episode of the drama Yellowstone last night — Yellowstone, Season 4, Episode 9, “No Such Thing As Fair“.

It was one of a slew of superb songs played on the next-to-last-episode of the current season of the Montana-based drama.

Cody Johnson’s ‘Dear Rodeo‘ is the third single from his 15-track seventh studio album Ain’t Nothin’ To It, which came out in 2019 via his own record label CoJo Music and Warner Music Nashville.

The album is Johnson’s first release on a major record label. Something that helped the album immensely, as it charted at #1 on the U.S. Top Country Albums chart, and #9 on the Billboard 200 chart.

It has since been certified Gold in the United States.

Dear Rodeo‘ was also released as a collab between Johnson and country music icon Reba McEntire, along with an official music video for the pair.

The video features footage from various rodeo shows, along with cuts of Johnson walking into an empty rodeo ring, where he is eventually joined by McEntire.

And yep, Johnson himself was a rodeo rider, until he realized he was much better at writing and singing songs.

Listen to Cody Johnson’s ‘Dear Rodeo’ from last night’s Yellowstone in that music video, and on the singer’s Ain’t Nothin’ To It.

There is also a very cool live solo performance Johnson gave of the song at the Houston Rodeo you should watch too. Because, yep, he does end that performance on horseback.
