I’ve been doing a binge watch of the Netflix series ‘Between‘ this week. A series that is truly awful, with terrible acting and a silly plot. But that does have one saving grace — the music.
And today I’m addicted to a song I heard on Season 1, Episode 6 of ‘Between‘. It is a song called ‘The Mark‘ from goth rock artist Cold Specks and was played when Wiley, her baby and sister are stuck in the crashed van, her sister is unconscious and Wiley escapes with her baby.
The version of Cold Specks’ ‘The Mark‘ I have been listening to over and over again this week is her singing the track live on KEXP, as it is so beautifully done. And such a stark and powerful song.
As for Cold Specks, she is a Canadian singer called Ladan Hussein. The track is from her superb 2012 debut album I Predict a Graceful Expulsion on Mute/EMI Records.
