The Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young track ‘Find The Cost of Freedom‘ was featured on Seal Team this week — Season 2, Episode 19, “Medicate and Isolate” (April 24th, 2019).
The track was played at the end of the episode as the body is brought back from Mali, and as Clay discovers Swan has killed himself due to post-traumatic stress, and is now lying dead in his truck.
Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young’s ‘Find The Cost of Freedom‘ is just a simple verse that was written during the Vietnam War, and refers to the deaths of the hundreds of thousands of armed personnel during that war.
It is at once both a salute to those men that gave up their lives in order to ensure ‘freedom’, and a protest that so many men were dying in a war that should never have been fought.
Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young’s ‘Find The Cost of Freedom‘ is from the band’s fourth studio album So Far.
It was also released as the last song on their fifth studio album Daylight Again, and paired with ‘Daylight Again‘:
Find the cost of freedom
Buried in the ground
Mother Earth will swallow you
Lay your body down.
Both were written by Stephen Stills.
