Listen to Dolly Parton’s ‘Heaven’s Just a Prayer Away’ from Mrs. Davis S1 E1 as Simone works with the nuns

The new Peacock sci-fi drama Mrs. Davis premiered on the streaming platform earlier this week.

Along with its crazy humor the drama also features some cool songs on its soundtrack, including a large number of songs on its first episode — Mrs. Davis, Season 1, Episode 1, “Mother of Mercy: The Call of the Horse“.

One of those songs was Dolly Parton’s ‘Heaven’s Just a Prayer Away‘, which showed up on the first episode of the comedy drama as Simone is following her usual daily routine as a nun, including playing in a baseball game with other nuns from the convent.

No, this is not exactly a “normal” convent.

Dolly Parton’s ‘Heaven’s Just a Prayer Away‘ came out on the country singer’s faith-based sixth studio album The Golden Streets of Glory back in February, 1971.

It was one of the few albums the superstar singer recorded that did not have any singles released from it, but did still chart at #22 on the Top Country Albums chart in the U.S.

The Golden Streets of Glory also earned Dolly Parton a Grammy Award for the Best Sacred Performance.

It is one of several faith-based albums the Tennessee native has released in her more than 50 year career. A career that has made her one of the most listened-to and loved country artists in the world.

Listen to Dolly Parton’s ‘Heaven’s Just a Prayer Away‘ from this week’s premiere of Mrs. Davis in the video, and on the Spotify player below.

The first four episodes of Mrs. Davis are now available for streaming on Peacock TV.
