Dusty Springfield’s ‘Son of a Preacher Man‘ was released in late 1968 as a single from her fifth studio album Dusty in Memphis.

The song went on to become one of Springfield’s biggest hits, charting at #1 on the singles chart in Singapore, and in the Top 10 in six other countries including in the United Kingdom.

In the United States, ‘Son of a Preacher Man‘ hit #10 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, and became one of Dusty Springfield‘s most popular songs in that country.

Over 25 years later, the song received a second lease on life when it was used by Quentin Tarrantino in a scene from his smash-hit film Pulp Fiction.

That usage helped the soundtrack of the film sell over two million copies, and introduced the song to a new generation of music lovers.
