British rock band Electric Light Orchestra’s ‘Strange Music‘ was played on the latest episode of the Epix drama Bridge and Tunnel this week — Bridge and Tunnel, Season 2, Episode 5, “Bloodshot Eyes“.
The track was first released as a single from the band’s Face the Music album, which came out in 1975 via the Jet record label.
Two versions of the song were released at the time — a full album version, minus the orchestral intro, in the United Kingdom, and an edited, shorter version in the United States.
ELO’s ‘Strange Music‘ charted in four countries — the United Kingdom, the U.S., Canada and Australia.
The song was also certified Gold in the U.S.
As for the band’s Face the Music album, it was a more pop-oriented release than their previous four albums, although it still featured much of the orchestration fans have always liked.
The album charted in six countries, and became a big success for the band, as it was the first of their albums to go Platinum.
Electric Light Orchestra (E.L.O.) is songwriters and multi-instrumentalists Jeff Lynne and Roy Wood, with drummer Bev Bevan.
The group was founded way back in 1970 by multi-instrumentalists Jeff Lynne and Roy Wood, alongside drummer Bev Bevan.
Nowadays, while E.L.O. still records and performs, the group is now Jeff Lynne and keyboardist Richard Tandy. They are no less successful as the original line-up.
Listen to Electric Light Orchestra’s ‘Strange Magic‘ from last night’s Bridge and Tunnel on the band’s Face the Music album, and in the video.
