American synth indie rock indie pop band Geographer’s ‘The Reason‘ is that almost angelic song played on Grey’s Anatomy this week — Grey’s Anatomy, Season 18, Episode 16, “Should I Stay or Should I Go” — as Addison is trying to save the life of her patient.
The guitar-driven song was released this month via the Nettwerk Music Group, and is typical of what Geographer calls his ‘soulful music from outer space’.
Lovely, isn’t it?
It is also one of a long list of songs the San Francisco-based band has had played on TV series in the last decade, including The Rookie, Mistresses, Roswell, New Mexico, New Amsterdam, The Republic of Sarah, Teen Mom 2 and Love, Victor.
Geographer was founded by Mike Deni in 2007 along with friends cellist Nathan Blaz and drummer Brian Ostreicher.
Nowadays, however, the ‘band’ is just Deni after Blaz and Ostreicher left due to having other music projects that prevented them from doing the touring Deni wanted to do.
Deni now performs with a new touring band.
Geographer’s latest album was Down and Out in the Garden of Earthly Delights, which came out last year.
Listen to Geographer’s ‘The Reason‘ as heard on Grey’s Anatomy in the video and on the Spotify player. It really is a lovely track.
