Listen to George Benson’s ‘Give Me the Night’ from Will Trent, Season 1, Ep. 6 – the laidback disco song is still so cool

The song that is probably American jazz and R&B musician George Benson’s most popular song was featured on the latest episode of Will Trent this week — Will Trent, Season 1, Episode 6, “Should I Go Get My Tin Foil Hat?

That cool song is George Benson’s ‘Give Me the Night‘, and it was played on the ABC police procedural drama as Jess is at the cafe telling Will and Faith that Selantus has put a backdoor in the GBI data system, which means GBI is being spied on.

George Benson’s ‘Give Me the Night‘ was released in 1980 as the title track from his album of the same name.

The track was a big hit for Benson inside and outside the United States, charting high on charts in 11 countries and on six different charts in the U.S.

It went on to #1 on the U.S. Hot Soul Singles chart, #2 on the Hot Disco Singles and #4 on the Billboard Hot 100, making it Benson’s most successful single to date back then.

The critically-acclaimed album it came from was even more successful as it hit #3 on the Billboard 200 chart, and eventually garnered the singer three Grammy Awards.

Benson himself started his career in 1964 and, at the age of 79 nowadays, is still going strong.

Listen to George Benson’s ‘Give Me the Night’ as heard on this week’s Will Trent in the song’s music video.

The video hops between Benson performing the song live and in various beach and night scenes.
