Canadian singer songwriter and all-around fabulous woman Grimes’ ‘We Appreciate Power‘ Feat. Hana showed up on the latest episode of Black Lightning this week — Black Lightning, Season 3, Episode 9, “The Book of Resistance: Chapter Four: Third Stone from the Sun” (aired on December 9th, 2019).
The song was heard as we see Jennifer walking down the school’s hallway to where Jefferson is teaching, and gave a fabulous feeling of strength and kickass to her walk.
It has also been featured on the teen drama series Riverdale.
Grimes’ ‘We Appreciate Power’ was released in late 2018 and is the lead single from the Canadian artist’s upcoming fifth studio album Miss Anthropocene.
It is the heaviest and most industrial song Grimes has released so far, with the singer herself saying it was influenced by the North Korean Kim Jong-un created band Moranbong and is meant to be Pro-artificial intelligence.
While the track definitely gained Grimes some major attention when it was released, it did not fare as well on the charts as many of her previous releases, however, only charting low down in three countries — Scotland, New Zealand and in the U.S. on the Hot Rock Songs chart.
Hopefully it will get more attention when Miss Anthropocene is released on February 21st, 2020, as it really is a gorgeous industrial-influenced track that is quite addictive.
