Irish rock band Hothouse Flowers’ cover of the Johnny Nash song ‘I Can See Clearly Now‘ was featured on the first episode of The Grand Tour  — the new British car show streaming online as of Friday, and starring the former Top Gear presenters Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May.

The track was played in the introduction to the show as the three head towards the desert stage.

As for The Grand Tour, its first episode kicked off in the UK, the US, Germany, Austria and Japan. Another 195 countries will have access to it starting in December.

Clarkson, Hammond and May have initially signed up for 36 episodes over three years but, considering who they are, how successful the BBC’s Top Gear was when they were presenting it (and how less successful it now is with the new team of presenters), it is highly likely The Grand Tour will run for years to come.

Particularly as the first episode is getting such rave reviews. The Guardian even said it had “left the BBC in the dust”.

A new episode will be released every Friday.

And, of course, listen to Hothouse Flowers singing ‘I Can See Clearly Now‘ in the video below.
