American indie folk duo Indigo Girls’ ‘Closer to Fine‘ was one of the superb older contemporary music songs played on the Firefly Lane soundtrack this month — Firefly Lane, Season 2, Episode 3, “I’m Coming Out“.
The song was released on the duo’s second self-titled studio album, which came out in 1989 via the Epic Records label.
It was the lead single from the album, and helped the album hit #22 on the Billboard 200 chart, and to #64 on the singles chart in Australia.
The album went on to sell well, and was also well-received by most critics.
Indigo Girls eventually went on to be certified Gold the year of its release. Eight years later, it was also certified Double Platinum.
Indigo Girls themselves have been together recording and releasing music since 1987, although they met in elementary school and began playing together while still in high school.
The duo has released 15 studio albums, three live albums, five compilation albums, and a whole host of singles.
Their latest full-length release was their 15th album Look Long earlier this year.
