Listen to ‘It’s Raining Men’ from ‘Pose’ — Season 1, Episode 2, “Access” — best gay anthem ever

There are so many superb tracks featured on the new FX series Pose, it is difficult to know which one to write about first.

My personal favorite out of the 13 songs featured on last night’s episode of Pose, however — Season 1, Episode 2, “Access” — is the Weather Girls song ‘It’s Raining Men’.

Because I have loved this song since when I was in university back in the 1980s and the minute that iconic intro started, Adil, a gay friend of mine, would grab me and drag me onto the dance floor.

And because I loved watching him dance and seeing just how happy he was with the thought that, yes, some day it may just rain men and, when it did, he would find the love of his life.

Of course, The Weather Girls’ ‘It’s Raining Men‘ has been a huge gay anthem since the song was released back in 1982, and even today can still get most of the men in any gay club in the world on the dance floor when it is played.

Back in 1982, ‘It’s Raining Men‘ hit the top spot on the U.S. Disco chart right after it was released, and went on to sell over six million copies worldwide. To this day, it is the song The Weather Girls are the most known for recording.

The track has also appeared on the soundtracks of other TV shows besides Pose, showing up on Friends, The Simpsons, and Saturday Night Live. Kelly Clarkson even sang it on her winning season of American Idol.

Listen to The Weather Girls sing ‘It’s Raining Men‘ in that fabulously cheesy official music video below.

And I defy you not to get up and dance right along with them because, 36 years after it was released, ‘It’s Raining Men‘ is still bloody brilliant.
