Listen to James Vincent McMorrow’s ‘Higher Love’ from New Amsterdam “Sanctuary”

Irish singer songwriter James Vincent McMorrow’s ‘Higher Love‘ was featured on the latest episode of the medical drama New Amsterdam — Season 1, Episode 17, “Sanctuary“.

The song was heard as the whole of New Amsterdam hospital is waiting for the power to be turned back on after a huge snowstorm, and a convicted murderer helps fix the generator.

James Vincent McMorrow’s ‘Higher Love‘ is from the Irish singer songwriter’s 2011 EP We Don’t Eat, which was released on Faction Records. The song is a cover version of the classic Stevie Winwood track.

It is also the second cover song recorded by McMorrow to appear on a TV series, as his version of the Chris Isaak’s track ‘Wicked Game’ was used on the HBO series Game of Thrones.

The James Vincent McMorrow version of the song reached number 4 on the Irish singles chart, and 21 and 35 in the UK and Australia. It was one of two cover songs released from the EP as singles.
