British musician, DJ and record producer Jamie xx’s ‘Hold Tight‘ was played on this week’s episode of the docu-drama The Dropout last night — The Dropout, Episode 7, “Heroes“.
The almost mesmerizing piece was the track playing over the end credits, at the end of an episode that proved just how out of touch with reality Elizabeth actually was at that time.
Jamie xx’s ‘Hold Tight‘ was first released in 2015 via the musician’s 11-track In Colour album, which came out on the British indie record label Young.
It was one of six singles released from the album, and ultimately charted at #38 UK Independent Singles chart.
The album itself won a Grammy Award for Best Dance/Electronic Album, meaning the musician probably didn’t feel too bad for having spent more than five years creating it, eh?
It was also nominated for a prestigious Mercury Prize and a Brit Award, while such luminaries as Rough Trade, Billboard, The Guardian, Time and Consequence of Sound placed it on their Best Albums lists of that year.
Jamie xx is both a solo artist and a member of the pop band The xx (hence his name!). He is also credited with garnering the success the band itself has received.
Listen to Jamie xx’s ‘Hold Tight‘ from The Dropout on his In Colour album, and in the video.
