American alternative rock band Jane’s Addiction’s ‘Mountain Song‘ was one of the songs played on the soundtrack of last night’s Showtime drama Yellowjackets — Yellowjackets, Season 1, Episode 4, “Bear Down“.
The song was heard during the opening scenes as Natalie is talking on the phone while in her car.
Jane’s Addiction’s ‘Mountain Song‘ is from the rock band’s debut studio album Nothing’s Shocking, which came out an astounding 33 years ago.
And I say ‘astounding’ as Nothing’s Shocking was one of the most-requested albums played on several of my own radio shows back in the day. Jesus, how fast time flies.
‘Mountain Song‘ was the second single released from the album, after initially appearing on the soundtrack of the movie Dudes.
It came with a music video that was shot live and, yep, those black bars are covering up band member genitals. Hey, it was the 80s.
Jane’s Addiction was formed in 1985 and is still together today.
Not the most prolific of bands when it comes to recorded music, the band has still released four full-length studio albums and two live albums. The last one coming out in 2013..
Listen to Jane’s Addiction’s ‘Mountain Song‘ as played on Yellowjackets in that video, and on the band’s Nothing’s Shocking album.
Yep, 33 years since that track came out and it’s still a helluva song.
