Listen to Japanese Breakfast’s ‘Kokomo, IN’ from Atlanta, Season 4, Episode 2

American alternative pop band Japanese Breakfast’s ‘Kokomo, IN‘ was played on Atlanta this week — Atlanta, Season 4, Episode 2, “The Homeliest Little Horse“.

The song was heard as Atlanta-native Earn is driving and listening to music.

Japanese Breakfast’s ‘Kokomo, IN‘ is from the indie band’s third studio album Jubilee. The album came out in 2021 on the Dead Oceans record label.

The record was known for its upbeat, mellow songs and for its gorgeous production.

And, while Japanese Breakfast’s ‘Kokomo, IN‘ is a stunning song in its right, especially for its vocals and instrumentals, it wasn’t released as one of the Jubilee singles.

Thus, the song didn’t receive a music video — something I would have loved to see.

As for Jubilee, the album was a big hit in the United States charting on four different charts, and being named to a slew of music critics’ 50 Best Albums of 2021 lists.

It also made it to #56 on the Billboard 200, the band’s first album to hit that chart, as well as to #7 on both the Top Alternative Albums chart and the Independent Albums chart, and was eventually nominated for a Grammy Award.

Listen to Japanese Breakfast’s ‘Kokomo, IN‘ from their Jubilee album, and from last night’s episode of Atlanta, in the video and on Jubilee below, and you will easily hear why.

And, of course, listen to more songs from Atlanta here on Leo Sigh.
