John Cougar Mellencamp’s ‘Check It Out‘ was one of the fabulous tracks played on the new Hulu series The Bear this week. In its case on The Bear, Season 1, Episode 4, “Dogs“.
The song is played towards the end of the episode as the guys are driving home from the birthday party, and continues to play as they are back in the restaurant eating chocolate cake as ‘a family’.
It continues playing over the end credits.
John Cougar Mellencamp’s ‘Check It Out‘ was released way back in 1988 as the third single from the American rock singer’s The Lonesome Jubilee album.
It made it to #14 on both the U.S. Cashbox chart and on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
The song’s music video was filmed at a Mellencamp concert at Market Square Arena in Indianapolis.
Listen to John Cougar Mellencamp’s ‘Check It Out‘ as heard on The Bear on the singer’s The Lonesome Jubilee album, and in the track’s video below.
And yep, ‘Check It Out‘ was a great choice for those scenes at the end of The Bear, as the song’s meaning is all about having grown up without realizing it, and now having to analyze your life to see if you are where you want to be.
