American country, folk and Americana singer Judy Collins’ ‘Joan of Arc‘ was played on last night’s episode of the Supernatural spin-off The Winchesters as the hunters hold Darla’s funeral — The Winchesters, Season 1, Episode 6, “Art of Dying“.
Judy Collins’ ‘Joan of Arc‘ was originally written by Leonard Cohen.
The track was released on the singer’s eighth studio album Living, which came out in late 1971 on the Elektra label.
It was the song’s second release after Cohen himself wrote the song about German model Nico.
The track was included on his album of the same name in March of the same year.
Interestingly, however, Collins herself had been performing ‘Joan of Arc‘ live in concerts the year before either she or Cohen recorded it.
She also continued to perform it for decades after.
