Listen to KALEO’s ‘Backbone’ from Expend4bles opening scenes as Barney leaves on his motorbike

The Icelandic rock band KALEO’s ‘Backbone‘ was that song playing during the opening scenes of the new movie Expend4bles this week as Barney, still smoking his cigar, gets on his motorbike and drives away.

The track is one of KALEO‘s most popular recent releases, coming out in 2021 as the fourth single from their third studio album Surface Sounds.

Not surprising really, as the raw emotions coming from lead singer Jökull Júlíusson are palpable.

Particularly as he laments about a man he used to admire and respect showing he is not only human like everyone else, but also seems to have lost any strength and resolve he once had as his problems overwhelm him:

You’ve got your back against the wallSay, where’s your backbone, brother?Where’s your backbone, brother?Where’s your backbone, brother?Where’s your backbone, brother?Where’s your backbone, brother?

An emotion most of us probably know very well, as we place people on pedestals only to realize many of them are not as strong as we thought they were.

Listen to KALEO’s ‘Backbone‘ as played during the opening scenes of Expend4bles via the Icelandic band’s Surface Sounds album, and on the stunningly filmed video of a live performance they gave on the Breiðamerkurjökull glacier.
