Listen to Katrina and the Waves ‘Walking on Sunshine‘ — such a happy song

The ridiculously happy Katrina and the Waves song ‘Walking on Sunshine‘ was featured on the new episode of The Good Doctor last night — October 8th, 2017 — Season 2, Episode 3, “36 Hours“.

The song was heard on The Good Doctor as Shane is getting ready for work, and avoiding phone calls from Lea.

Katrina and the Waves first released ‘Walking on Sunshine‘ way back in 1983 on their debut album. An album that was only released in Canada at the time.

In 1985, the album was re-released in the UK and ‘Walking on Sunshine‘ became the second single from it.

‘Walking on Sunshine‘ becomes a hit

The track was the first hit for the British-American pop rock band, hitting the number 4 spot in Australia, the number 8 spot in the UK and number 9 on the American singles chart.

Walking on Sunshine‘ eventually charted in more than 10 countries, making Katrina and The Waves one of the most well-known pop rock bands in Europe at the time.

The song has also earned a huge amount of money for the band since its release more than 30 years ago, as it is often used for TV commercials.

Katrina and The Waves finally sold the rights to that song, and to all their other songs, to BMG Rights Management in 2015 for £10 million. It is estimated that, up until that point, ‘Walking on Sunshine‘ had made at least £1 a year for the band every year since its release.

Not bad for a pop song!

It is not one of the most interesting videos you will ever watch, (well, it was filmed over 30 years ago), but Katrina and The Waves definitely have a lot of energy!
