Listen to Kigga’s ‘CHINA TOWN’ from Warrior, Season 2, Episode 8, “All Enemies, Foreign and Domestic”

American action-drama television series Warrior is continuing with its second season run on Cinemax.

It will sadly be the last season of this superb series as Cinemax has now stopped producing original programming.

While we still have two more episodes to go in the series, however, I wanted to point out just how good some of the music used on the soundtrack is, and how much of it is music you may not have heard before.

Take Inner Mongolian rapper Kigga’s ‘CHINA TOWN‘ played on Warrior, Season 2, Episode 8, “All Enemies, Foreign and Domestic“, which aired on 20th November, 2020.

The track is even more interesting than its initial sound would appear, being as it is rapped in Chinese.

And being that the Chinese lyrics are in the same vein as you would expect from many English-language rappers — decrying the fact that they are being used and abused by a group of other people.

In Kigga’s case, foreigners who look down on the Chinese — call them the “Yellow Peril” and, in the case of Chinese immigrants to the United States in the late 1880s, stereotyped, used for hard labor and then banned from immigration to the U.S. just to placate the racists accusing the Chinese of “taking their jobs”. (The 1882 Chinese Exclusion Act).

Almost 150 years later, and ‘humans’ haven’t changed that much when it comes to racism and bigotry now have they?

And Kigga knows that. (And yes, I had to run the lyrics of the track through Google Translate to figure that out!)

Kigga’s ‘CHINA TOWN‘ is from his 2019 album Black Chip, which was released in November, 2019.
