Laetitia Sadier’s ‘La Langue Bleue’ is song on Monsieur Spade S1 Ep 6 end credits

If you are into French songs, either classics or those that sound like one, the AMC neo-noir crime drama Monsieur Spade definitely delivers them in, yep, spades. (Sorry, couldn’t resist)

Songs like ‘La Langue Bleue‘ performed by French dream pop, post rock singer Laetitia Sadier in collaboration with Lukas Frank’s music project Storefront Church.

That mysterious almost mesmerizing song played on the latest episode of the drama — Monsieur Spade, Season 1, Episode 6 — over the end credits.

La Langue Bleue‘ by Laetitia Sadier and Storefront Church

The song is a new release from the French avant-pop musician, as it came out on February 16th via the Duophonic Super 45s label.

A label founded by Sadier herself, along with former partner Tim Gane and former Stereolab member Martin Kean.

Because, yes, along with being a solo performer, Laetitia Sadier is also primarily known as half of the English-French avant-pop band Stereolab, alongside Tim Gane.

Sadier’s Stereolab years

Founded in 1990 and becoming an almost iconic indie pop rock band, Stereolab was active for almost 20 years before the band went on hiatus in 2009.

After a 10 year gap, Sadier and Gane got back together in 2019, at least professionally, and have been performing live since, although the Covid b.s. did put a bit of a crimp in their plans.

Recently, Laetitia Sadier has also been performing with her own group the Laetitia Sadier Source Ensemble, with which she often collaborates with other artists.

Hence her recent collaboration with Storefront Church with ‘La Langue Bleue‘.

Listen to ‘La Langue Bleue‘ by Laetitia Sadier and Storefront Church as heard over this week’s Monsieur Spade end credits via the Spotify player below, which also features a cool instrumental version of the track.

If  you like what you hear, Sadier is releasing her latest album Rooting for Love, which is her first solo album since 2017, on February 23rd.

You might want to check it out on Spotify as well.

As for Monsieur Spade, the drama series is currently streaming via AMC.
