American singer songwriter Madi Diaz‘ song ‘Ashes‘ was featured on The CW’s The Originals last Thursday night (December 3rd, 2015 — Series 3, Episode 8 — “The Other Girl in New Orleans“) during the closing scene of the show. And, yes, it’s beautiful. One of those songs you hear, and immediately know you’ll be playing it over and over again.
It’s also the second time the song has been featured on the soundtrack of a TV series, as it was on MTV’s Finding Carter back in October.
‘Ashes‘ is from Madi Diaz’s album Phantom, which was released in 2014. And what is fabulous about this track is not only the recorded version, but also an incredible live version Diaz recorded at Tuneln Sessions earlier in the year.
Watch and listen to both below. And, of course, grab Madi’s album Phantom on one of the major digital music platforms. It’s her look at being knocked down and choosing to get back up again, yet it still manages to sound upbeat and with some very cool dance numbers.
You can also give it a listen in its entirety on Deezer.
