Listen to Mumford and Son’s ‘42‘ the opening track from new album Delta
The new Mumford and Sons track ’42’ was featured on the soundtrack of This Is Us this week — Season 3, Episode 8, “Six Thanksgivings”.
It was played during the episode’s closing montage.
Mumford and Sons ‘42‘ is the opening track from Delta the indie folk/alternative rock band’s fourth studio album.
Released last week on Island Records to mixed reviews, the album is far more introspective than Mumford and Son’s last effort — the 2015 Wilder Mind.
That album had a more acoustic sound which, although a big international hit, didn’t thrill a huge swath of fans, who preferred the band’s usual folk sound.
Delta has re-introduced those folk elements but in a more modern way, in effect melding the harder sound of the British band’s Wilder Mind with their typical folk elements.
Personally, I prefer the sound of Delta to that of Wilder Mind, which I never could attach myself to.
