Natalie Merchant’s ‘Kind and Generous‘ was played on the new and sadly already cancelled DC Universe’s Swamp Thing — Season 1, Episode 3, “He Speaks” (14th June, 2019).
The song was heard as Abby and Matt are talking, and then it is the track they ultimately dance to.
‘Kind and Generous‘ is from Natalie Merchant’s second solo album Ophelia, which was released in 1998. The song hit the top spot on the U.S. Adult Alternative Songs chart. It also charted on four other U.S. charts, and three in Canada.
The song came with a now-iconic music video with Merchant as a circus performer in a number of different roles.
As for Swamp Thing, it was announced right after the first episode aired that it had been canceled by DC Universe.
A decision that is strange to many critics and industry analysts that have commented on the story. Particularly as it is getting hugely positive reviews, with a 92 percent critic score on the review-aggregation site Rotten Tomatoes.
