Nina Simone’s ‘Feeling Good‘ was featured in Patrick Melrose this week
The classic Nina Simone song ‘Feeling Good‘ was featured on the latest episode of the five-part Showtime drama Patrick Melrose last night — Season 1, Episode 4, “Mother’s Milk” (June 2nd, 2018).
The song was heard at the beginning of the episode as Patrick’s son is watching the nurse tending to his sick, elderly mother.
‘Feeling Good‘ was first written for the 1963 musical The Roar of the Greasepaint – The Smell of the Crowd, but was released soon afterwards by Nina Simone on her album I Put A Spell On You.
It didn’t become popular for Simone, however, until a few years before her death when her version of the song was used for a Volkswagen commercial. The song was then re-released, this time as a single, and soon after found its popularity.

As for the brilliant TV series Patrick Melrose, starring Benedict Cumberbatch, the final episode of the limited series will air next Saturday night, June 9th, 2018.
