Listen to Nina Simone’s ‘Save Me’ from Jett, Season 1, Episode 5, “Bennie”

The iconic American singer songwriter Nina Simone’s ‘Save Me’ was featured in the new Cinemax crime drama TV series Jett this week — Jett, Season 1, Episode 5, “Bennie”.

The track was the song playing on the record player as Jett is getting dressed. It is heard for a second time later on in the episode.

Nina Simone’s ‘Save Me’ is from the 2006 reissue of her thirteenth studio album Silk & Soul. The track is one of two bonus tracks appearing on the album.

The song was originally written by Aretha Franklin, her sister Carolyn Franklin and King Curtis. It was a track that first appeared on her 1967 album I Never Loved A Man The Way I Loved You.

As for Jett, the series stars Carla Gugino, and follows the adventures of world-class thief Daisy “Jett” Kowalski. Just released from prison, she soon finds herself back in the career she knows and manages so well, with all the danger that includes. Whether she likes it or not.

The series is currently getting excellent reviews from both critics and viewers, and has a 92 percent Rotten Tomatoes approval rating from 12 critics.
