Benedict Cumberbatch‘s latest movie Doctor Strange released in early November. A movie that not only received critical raves about its story, acting and visuals, but also about its fabulous soundtrack. A soundtrack that included this piece — Pink Floyd’s ‘Interstellar Overdrive‘ — the classic psychedelic improvisational instrumental rock song from the band’s 1967 album The Piper at the Gates of Dawn.

The track was heard in Doctor Strange as Strange is deciding on which watch to wear for a party.

Doctor Strange director Scott Derrickson originally planned on using the track during the film’s opening credits, but licensing of the piece proved to be too expensive so he reassessed his objectives and used it for a scene in the film instead.

Listen to Pink Floyd’s ‘Interstellar Overdrive‘, and all it’s weird instrumental musings, in the video below. You can buy The Piper at the Gates of Dawn on most major music sites.
