With Season 6 of Orange Is The New Black now available to watch on Netflix, not only does it mean amazing drama binge-watchable over a fair few nights, but it also guarantees some pretty cool music as well.
Music like the English experimental rock band Portishead’s track ‘Machine Gun‘. A track that was heard during the last scene of Orange Is The New Black, Season 6, Episode 11 — “Well This Took A Dark Turn“.
‘Machine Gun‘ was released way back in 2008 on Portishead’s third studio album simply called Third. The first album the alternative rock/experimental rock band had released in more than 11 years.
The track charted in the UK, Belgium, Australia and France, and was certified gold in the U.K.
‘Machine Gun‘ was the lead single from the album at the time. It was also subsequently featured in the video game Metro: Last Light, and on the British TV series Skins.
And hell, if you haven’t heard any of Portishead’s music before (they’ve been around since 1991), ‘Machine Gun‘ is a brilliant introduction, as that drum beat alone is brilliant.
Listen to Portishead’s ‘Machine Gun’ in the video below, and then do yourself a favor and listen to everything else this bizarre, brilliant and iconic band has put out.
Spotify is your destination for that.
