Listen to Psychedelic Furs’ ‘Love My Way’ from Quantum Leap, S1 E15 – still addictive after all these years

The Psychedelic Furs’ ‘Love My Way‘ was one of a couple of very cool songs played on the soundtrack of Quantum Leap this week — Quantum Leap, Season 1, Episode 15, “Ben Song for the Defense“.

This one was played as Ben gets on the elevator, and is then followed by Tyler and his girlfriend who want another tip.

Nowadays, it is still one of The Psychedelic Fur‘s most popular song with more than 131 million plays on Spotify alone, and with 24 million plays of the song’s official music video.

Not a surprise as, right from its first release, ‘Love My Way‘ was one of those addictive songs you couldn’t quickly forget, and a helluva good dance track.

The Psychedelic Furs’ ‘Love My Way‘ came out in mid-1982 as the first single from their third studio album Forever Now.

The Todd Rundgren-produced track became such an enormous indie hit for the British post-punk band, it charted high on four charts in the U.S., as well as one in the United Kingdom, New Zealand and Australia.

As a radio DJ at an alternative radio station in the U.S. in the late 1980s, I even remember we would still get a huge number of requests for the new wave song years after its release.

According to Furs’ lead vocalist and lyric-writer Richard Butler, he initially wrote the song as a message to gay people to just go ahead and “love their way”:

Love my way, it’s a new roadI follow where my mind goes, so swallow all your tears, my loveAnd put on your new faceYou can never win or lose, if you don’t run the race

Listen to The Psychedelic Furs’ ‘Love My Way‘ as played on last night’s Quantum Leap in the song’s music video, and on the Furs’ album Forever Now.

Listen to more songs from Quantum Leap on Leo Sigh and, of course, watch the show via NBC.
