Australian singer songwriter Ruel’s ‘Hard Sometimes‘ was featured on The CW’s All American this week — All American, Season 2, Episode 6, “Hard Knock Life”.
‘Hard Sometimes‘ is from Free Time — Ruel’s sophomore EP released in September, 2019 via RCA Records.
Ruel himself is not to be confused with American female singer songwriter Ruelle.
Instead Ruel is Ruel Vincent van Dijk, an Aussie singer who has become someone to sit up and take notice of ever since he won the Breakthrough Artist award at the ARIA Music Awards in 2018 with his single ‘Dazed & Confused‘.
He got his start at the age of 15 after his father sent a demo to Grammy Award-winning producer M-Phazes, who was blown away by Ruel’s vocals.
Since then, the now-17-year-old singer has released two EPs and eight singles as lead artist. Along the way, he has also picked up an award from MTV Europe Music Awards for Best Australian Act.
