Listen to Sheryl Crow’s ‘If It Makes You Happy’ from High Desert, Ep 7 as Peggy introduces her siblings to William

American pop rock singer Sheryl Crow’s ‘If It Makes You Happy‘ was that song playing on this week’s High Desert as Peggy’s sister and brother show up at her office — High Desert, Season 1, Episode 7, “This Doesn’t Have to Be a Tragedy“.

The song humorously continues playing as they hear gun shots, only for Peggy to realize the shots are coming from Bruce’s office.

When she goes in, he is firing his gun out of the window at a car in the parking lot and complaining about his wife leaving him.

Sheryl Crow’s ‘If It Makes You Happy‘ was released as the lead single from the singer’s self-titled second studio album, which came out in late 1996.

The track was an almost immediate hit for the then 34-year-old singer, and eventually ended up spending 27 weeks on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, with its highest ranking at #10.

‘If It Makes You Happy‘ also charted on six other American charts, with its most successful ranking at #1 on the Adult Alternative Songs chart.

The cool rock song then hit charts in 12 other countries including the UK, and earning the #1 spot in Canada (on 3 charts).

Since its release over 25 years ago, Sheryl Crow’s ‘If It Makes You Happy‘ has appeared on a slew of Best Songs Ever lists.

It also won the singer a Grammy Award for the Best Female Rock Vocal Performance.

The song has garnered almost 120 million streams on that streaming platform alone.

Crow herself is still releasing superb music 30 years since her debut album came out. You can learn more about the singer via her official website.
