The new Apple TV+ comedy drama Shrinking has been featuring some cool music on its soundtrack since its first episode premiered in late January.
The latest episode of the show, though, has outdone itself with several tracks that are killer, including Simon and Garfunkel’s ‘Blues Run the Game – Studio Outtake‘, which was played on Shrinking, Season 1, Episode 3, “Fifteen Minutes” yesterday.
The melancholic track was heard as Paul is listening to it in his office.
Simon and Garfunkel’s ‘Blues Run the Game‘ was recorded back in late 1965, but was not released until 1997 by the duo, when it appeared on their Old Friends box set of songs.
The mellow, guitar-driven track itself was written by singer songwriter Jackson C. Frank, and was released on his self-titled debut and ultimately only studio album in 1965.
Frank’s album was produced by Paul Simon, which was when he and Art Garfunkel, who also went to several of the recording sessions, fell in love with the song.
Listen to Simon and Garfunkel’s ‘Blues Run the Game – Studio Outtake‘ as played on Shrinking in the video, and on the duo’s Old Friends album.
