Music vocal group Sister Sledge’s ‘We Are Family‘ was played on the latest episode of the superhero web series Titans this week — Titans, Season 2, Episode 13, “Nightwing“. The song was heard playing over the credits.
The iconic Sister Sledge track is the title track from the group’s third studio album, which was released in 1979. The album spawned four singles, including ‘We Are Family‘.
Written by Bernard Edwards and Nile Rodgers, ‘We Are Family‘ made it to the #1 spot on the R&B chart and #2 on the Pop Songs chart in the United States. It also charted in a total of 11 countries, and was certified Gold in the U.S. and Silver in the United Kingdom.
Since its release, ‘We Are Family‘ has also been placed on the National Recording Registry by the Library of Congress, as it is thought to be one of the most important songs ever released when it comes to artistic, cultural or historical significance.
Listen to Sister Sledge’s ‘We Are Family‘ from Titans in the official music video below, and in the Spotify widget below that.
The video is one of the many quite cheesy ones released in the 1970s. This one showing nothing more than the female members of the group performing a dance routine while they ham it up to the camera.
The song itself, however, has certainly stood the test of time.
