Listen to Snoh Aalegra’s ‘Emotional’ from And Just Like That…., Episode 4

Swedish soul, hip hop singer songwriter Snoh Aalegra’s ‘Emotional‘ was played on the new episode of the Sex and the City sequel And Just Like That last night — And Just Like That..., Season 1, Episode 4, “Some of My Best Friends…“.

The song was playing as Miranda is at the restaurant with Nya, who is arguing with the host about their reservation.

Snoh Aalegra’s ‘Emotional’ was released as a stand-alone single in 2015 via Epic Records, and was the first single she released under her new artist name (the Swedish-Iranian singer’s real name is Snoh Sheri Nowroz).

The song was produced by American rapper and producer RZA.

It was also around this time that Aalegra, who had moved from Stockholm to Los Angeles, was being mentored by Prince. A mentoring that continued until his death, and that helped her meet influential people within the American music industry.

Within the next few years, the singer released two EPs, her debut studio album, and a second album. Her third album, Temporary Highs in the Violet Skies, came out this year.

Around the same time, she also came to the attention of artists like John Meyer, rapper Vince Staples, Timbuktu and producer Logic, who she worked with on various projects. Sia wrote one of the songs for her second EP.

As for Snoh Aalegra’s ‘Emotional‘, it is an unusual song — part soul track, part funk, part dance number, part ballad, with the horns as much on top of her vocals as supporting them.

But one that definitely allows the singer to show off her powerful vocals.

And powerful they are, which quickly proves just why she has received so much attention from so many music industry luminaries.

Listen to Aalegra’s ‘Emotional‘ as heard on last night’s And Just Like That... in the track’s music video, which was partially filmed in a huge, empty and obviously deserted swimming pool as Aalegra sings and dances to the song.
