Listen to STRFKR’s ‘Girls Just Want To Have Fun’ from Legacies, it’s cool and fun

Indie rock band STRFKR’s song ‘Girls Just Want To Have Fun‘ was featured on the new episode of the supernatural drama Legacies this week — Season 1, Episode 6, “Mombie Dearest“.

It was played as Lizzie and MG come down the stairs, and as the pair begin to dance to Lizzie’s favorite song.

STRFKR’s ‘Girls Just Want To Have Fun‘ is, of course, a cover of the Cyndi Lauper classic. A song that was Lauper’s first big hit, and the lead single from her debut album.

The track is from the band’s sophomore album Jupiter. Originally released in 2009, it was re-released three years later with three additional tracks added and various new mixes.

The band has been in existence since 2007, when it began as a solo project for vocalist Joshua Hodges under the name Starfucker. The name was shortened to STRFKR in 2012.

STRFKR has four other studio albums out. The latest release, Being No One, Going Nowhere, in 2016.

Listen to STRFKR’s ‘Girls Just Want To Have Fun‘ as played live in San Francisco in the video below. You can hear the original album version, plus the album Jupiter in its entirety on the Spotify widget below that.
