The first episode of the Spanish rom com A Perfect Story featured several cool songs on its soundtrack, including The Bangles’ ‘Walk Like an Egyptian’.
That song was heard on A Perfect Story, Episode 1, “We Won’t Look for Each Other‘ as Margot decides she doesn’t want to get married.
So she puts on running shoes, jumps off the balcony in her wedding dress and drives away in a golf cart.
An episode that, quite frankly, gets better and better as the minutes progress and that perfectly sets up the entire 5-episode mini series for its lovely ending.
When was The Bangles’ ‘Walk Like an Egyptian’ released?
The Bangles’ ‘Walk Like an Egyptian’ was released by the now defunct American pop rock band way back in 1986 as the third single from their second studio album A Different Light.
The song became an enormous international hit for the indie band, charting at #1 on charts in nine countries, including in the top spot on the American Cash Box chart.
That track and the song ‘Manic Monday‘ helped The Bangles’ A Different Light album get to #2 on the Billboard 200 chart, making it the band’s most successful album.
The song was written by songwriter Liam Sternberg after he was on a ferry and watched passengers walking stiltedly and with arms awkwardly placed in order to keep their balance on choppy waters.
The way they walked reminded him of Egyptian tomb paintings. Hence the title ‘Walk Like an Egyptian’.
