Listen to The Breeders ‘Cannonball‘ from Halt and Catch Fire

The amazing The Breeders song ‘Cannonball’ showed up on Halt and Catch Fire this week — Season 4, Episode 4, “Tonya and Nancy“. The song was played while Cameron is washing the trailer and setting up the camp site.

Cannonball‘ is from The Breeders 1993 album Last Splash, and it’s one of those tracks you will have probably heard a million times before but may not know who sings it.

That’s because it has shown up on a number of movies and TV series over the last 20-odd years, including South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut, A Walk To Remember, Moonlight and Valentino, True Blood and Misfits, as well as seen continual play on alternative rock radio stations around the world.

It is also on a slew of critics’ lists as one of the best songs of the 1990s.

The Breeders themselves have been around since 1989 and, with a couple of breaks, are still together as a band and performing. Although Kim Deal is the only member of the band that has been active throughout.

Nowadays, The Breeders consists of Kim Deal, her twin sister Kelley Deal who joined the band about three years after it first formed, Josephine Wiggs and Jim Macpherson.

Their last album was the 2008 release Mountain Battles.
